Now, a witty way to health
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, December 18
The health education unit of Advanced Paediatric Centre (APC) of the PGI organised a unique programme to convey health messages to students of a government school in Mani Majra today.

Dr Bhavneet Bharti said the messages were well received by the students as those were conveyed through cultural means like dramas, songs, choreographies and puppet shows. Delivery of various health messages through didactic lectures and classroom teachings was dull and boring and it was difficult to maintain the concentration of students through these methods, especially with high student-teacher ratio in most of our government schools, she asserted.

Crisp health messages conveyed in a humorous way made the students giggle and laugh. Refraining from substance abuse and abstinence before marriage were some of the important messages.

An ideal society was conceived by the theatrical group of the Rural AIDS Awareness Society to tackle various social evils, added Dr Bharti.
