Plywood makers to hike rates by 5 pc

Hit by the rising cost of the material required, plywood manufacturers of the state have decided to hike rates by 5 per cent. This is for the second time in the past six months that the plywood rates have been increased. Manufacturers said if urgent steps were not taken by the government for ensuring the smooth supply of wood and control on rising material cost, they would lose out on buyers in other states, to whom they were currently supplying plywood worth Rs 40 crore.

HIV infected get joining letters

Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal has taken upon himself to save the Sidhwan canal from going the Budda Nullah way following an initiative by a local resident who is arranging for resources.
Baba Seechewal has agreed to visit the city in the third week of January and 500
metres of the canal will be cleaned initially.

Transporters fined; raise slogan against DTO

A large number transporter raised slogans against a district transport officer in protest against the “harassment” faced by them. They had gathered outside the office for settling the challans as their vehicles were impounded by the DTO last night.

The medical fraternity here, in unison, has hailed the proposed ordinance to be promulgated by the Andhra Pradesh government, making the violent attacks against doctors a cognizable and non-bailable offence, and further providing for recovery of compensation for damage to property of medical institutions from the perpetrators.
