Finnish Woman’s Rape
Five suspects questioned
Tribune News Service

Mumbai, December 20
A woman from Finland, residing in Mumbai, was allegedly raped yesterday after she left a pub in Navi Mumbai, according to the police.

As per the complaint filed by the victim, she left the pub and hitched a ride in a passing car to get home.

The man who was driving the car took her to an isolated spot where he assaulted and raped her.

After she was dumped on the road she staggered to a petrol pump where the employees gave her water and some first-aid and then called upon a passing police patrol party to help her.

But the police did not help her and left her at the petrol pump to fend for herself, the woman said in her complaint.

The woman then managed to call her husband who took her home.

She then chose to file a complaint on the following day. She was sent for a medical examination at the Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai.

Today Ramrao Wagh, police commissioner, Navi Mumbai, said five suspects were being questioned.

The victim, aged 36, was on a multiple entry visa to India along with her husband who works for a city company.

The police said the woman had earlier been picked up while she was wandering around under the influence of alcohol some time ago.
