Gurgaon, December 22
A 30-year-old commerce ministry official was found dead near her residence at a posh colony in this satellite town and the police claimed she was murdered by her estranged husband.
According to assistant commissioner of police Sumit Kumar, Archana Trivedi’s husband Rohit Pagare confessed to having strangulated her two days ago and throwing her body at a secluded place near her Sushant Lok residence last night.
Kumar said the body was found in a suitcase by the security guards last night who then informed the police.
Archana was a deputy director in the commerce ministry.
The police arrested Rohit, a chartered accountant in a private company here, after the victim’s parents told them that they suspected she was murdered by her husband.
Rohit had registered a case that his wife was missing since Thursday afternoon.
Archana’s father, Lt-Col V.S. Trivedi, said the relations between his daughter and son-in-law were not smooth ever since they married in May 2004.
He said Rohit had even filed for a divorce which was subsequently withdrawn in September 2005.
