Postal dept to launch commercial banking Ambala, December 30 K. Noorjehan, member, the postal service board, said the department had approached the Reserve Bank of India in this regard and asked for issuing a licence for commercial transactions. She said as many as 67,000 post offices in the country would be computerised while 1,381 branches were already fully computerised. She said the department was selling general insurance products through post offices in rural areas and it would start train-booking services across 30 post offices in the country from early next year. |

Suvidha centres at village level soon Fatehgarh Sahib, December 30 Deputy Commissioner Alakhnanda Dayal said the public would be able to get registries, affidavits, arms licences, passports, marriage registrations done at the service centre. Besides, permission for holding of rallies, loud speakers and no objection certificates related to various government departments would also be issued from the centre, she said. |
