Stay on selection of ASI

The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has put a stay on the final selection of assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in the UT police due to the leakage of the question paper. The applicants further stated that the written test held on December 23 last was not as per the syllabus.

Cold continues its spell
Night temperature 6 degrees below normal

The cold remained unsparing for the sixth day today, with minimum temperature settling at a low of 1.4° C, the lowest in a decade in Chandigarh. Like other parts of the northwestern zone where night temperature remained several degrees below normal, in Chandigarh it was six degrees below normal.

College girl commits suicide

A 21-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan here this morning. A resident of Sector 10, the girl was a second-year engineering student of Indo global college at Mallanpur.

KBDAV, Sector 7, adopted 150 underprivileged from the slum settlement of Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26, Chandigarh. The students were identified after a survey of the slum area with the help of Yuvsatta volunteers. Preference was given to girl child.
