Dengue patient count goes up to 1,011; hospitals slam the door on symptomatic patients

With the total number of positive dengue cases increasing to 1,011 followed by 277 suspected cases in the district, the health department has confirmed the incidence of the disease as the worst for the past 10 years.

Endoscopic surgery a boon for patients

For 10-month-old Harshpreet from Mukerian, five-month-old Meenu from Jalandhar and 15-year-old Ashu from Sirsa, it was timely surgical intervention using endoscopic modality at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), which gave them a new lease to life. All of them had a huge swelling at the back of their tongue, which was blocking the entrance to the windpipe, making it difficult for them to breathe.

Licences of 11 commission agents cancelled

Dr Rakesh Kumar Singla, DFSC, Fatehgarh Sahib, while inspecting grain markets of Khamano, Sanghol, Barwali, Majri and some other stations in the district today early in the morning, cancelled licences of 11 commission agents for not conducting proper arrangements of paddy at the time of raining. He ordered the concerned officials not to purchase paddy through these firms.
