The Uttar Pradesh Assembly
saw a new low when Samajwadi Party (SP) members, alleging his
“softness” towards the wrongdoings of the Mayawati
government, hurled paper balls and missives at Governor TV
Rajeshwar as he stood at the Speaker's podium to address the
House on the opening day of the budget session today. While the
entire opposition was expressing its protest against the BSP
government, BJP had announced to keep away from the proceedings.

officially communicate if it wanted any more evidence for its

Obama:
Pak hasn’t tried hard to root out Al-Qaida US President Barack
Obama says Pakistan has not made a concerted effort to root out
Al-Qaida and the Taliban from safe havens along the
Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Obama, speaking at his first
prime-time press conference on Monday night, said there was
“no doubt” that terrorists were operating in the Federally
Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) along the mountainous border
with Afghanistan.

any threat to its security coming from any quarter, Defence
Minister A K Antony today said in wake of a warning from a top
Al-Qaida commander. “One thing I can tell you. Whatever threat
coming from any quarter, our armed forces are always ready to

A whistleblower is back in
job. Nearly five years after an under secretary in Haryana, Ram
Kishan, was retired compulsorily after his complaint resulted in
the unearthing of a scam in the legal remembrancer’s (LR)
office, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has invalidated the
action.
