Cricket trials at Saupin’s: Saupin’s School,
Chandigarh, will hold trials for proficiency in cricket for their sports quota admissions on February 22 at 3.30 pm on the school
premises. Cricket coach Sukhwinder Bawa, Pavan Sharma (Himachal player) and Deepak Lohtiya
(PTI, Saupin’s School) will conduct the trials. Those interested may report to Deepak at the scheduled time.

Girl electrocuted: Girja, in her early 20s, was electrocuted to death at her residence in Azad Colony, here today.
A neighbour said the victim was heating water with a heating rod when she suffered an electric
shock. She was taken to the General Hospital, Sector 6, where doctors declared her brought dead.
The police said the body had been sent to the mortuary at the general hospital.

Cash, jewellery stolen: Thieves reportedly broke into Krishna Devi’s house in Kosli on Monday and decamped with cash and jewellery said to be worth Rs 45,000 and a mobile phone. The incident took place at 11 am when Krishna Devi, who is teacher, had gone out for work. A case has been registered.
INA veteran dead:Veteran freedom fighter Pahlad Singh died at Kosli today. He was 95. He was a soldier in the Indian National Army (INA) of Netaji Subhas Chandra

Footwear store gutted: A footwear store was gutted in a fire at Ellenabad town in the district on Monday. According to the owner of the store, Madan Khurana, goods worth Rs 2 lakh have been destroyed. Clothes kept in the neighbouring shop also gutted. Case registered: A cow died and other five received injuries when a canter that was taking them overturned near Kalanwali town in the district on Tuesday. The police has registered a criminal case under the Animal Cruelty Prevention Act against unidentified canter-borne persons as they fled the spot after the accident, leaving behind the canter and injured cows. Declamation contest: Lala Hans Raj Phutela College of Law will organise a declamation contest on global terrorism on February 21. Principal of the college Anupam Ahluwalia said Dr RS Sangwan, chief patron of the Sirsa Education Society that runs the college, would be the chief guest.

3 persons remanded: A three-day police remand was given on Tuesday to three persons, who were arrested on Monday in the town with 1,200 gm of charas. SP Kuldip Sharma said a police party raided the residence of Udal Singh, a resident of Bijnaur, and recovered charas from his possession and arrested him. Two more persons Abdul of Najibabad and Shamim of Betia in Bihar were also arrested at Udal Singh’s instance.Memorandum submitted: A deputation led by Berry Rajadyan Guru Ravi Dass Sabha president Tulsi Dass Bansal and vice-president Prem Lal met SP Kuldip Sharma here on Tuesday and presented him a memorandum demanding an impartial inquiry into Guru Ravi Dass temple demolition by some individuals. The deputation expressed dissatisfaction with the police investigation up till now. The SP gave an assurance that another senior officer would be deputed for the inquiry and justice would be ensured in this matter at the earliest.

This would accelerate work on the ongoing construction activities of 220 KV power sub-station at Karian, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 82 crore.
