Dadwal. The CBI had arrested Dadwal, JE Gyan Chand and Ramesh Chand from the MC office on charges of taking bribe from a contractor on May 30, 2008. Tarlochan Singh, a contractor, had undertaken work for installation of streetlights.

Water rationing begins: Residents in Mohali will get water at full pressure for four hours on every alternate night to fill overhead tanks while the day supply will remain normal. Full pressure water supply would be reportedly given from 4 am to fill overhead tanks. Phases I to VII have been divided into two zones and each zone would be provided water at full pressure every alternate night.

213 LPG cylinders stolen: Burglars broke in a cooking gas refill godown of the Food and Civil Supplies at Damtal and decamped with 213 cylinders of the Indian Oil Corporation. House gutted: A double-storeyed house was burnt to ashes in a devastating fire which broke out on Sunday in Rainpani village in the district. Report said cattle were also tied in a room, but were saved with the help of villagers. However, a tentative loss of over Rs 7 lakh had been estimated. 3 kg charas seized: The Narcotics Control Bureau seized 3 kg of charas from the Tawi river on Monday. Official sources said the contraband worth Rs 45,000 was concealed in a bag and had been buried in the riverbed at an isolated place. Acting upon information the NCB sleuths confiscated it. However, no arrest has been made.
