Rhyme Time
Board exams

Cracking the boards

Simply cracks your head

Boards really are

The worst nightmares in bed

Cramming the notes

Learning the book

To your studies

Boards keep you hooked

Eating breakfast or dinner

Seems a waste of time

A little rest

Seems a heinous crime

Pens become so short-lived

By solving sums

Writing and writing

Makes your fingers go numb

Parents and teachers

Siblings and rest all

Look at them

How their expectations stand tall

Fear is the feeling

That grips you all

God, please help them

Lest they fall

Jasmine Sekhon, IX, Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana

Bountiful nature

O dear, I want to tell

That life has loveliness to sell

Blue waves red pink roses blue sky

Yellow, brown, red, firozi birds fly

Scent of mud in the rain

Smell of rose is the main

Lark-lark skylark singing

Chow-chow monkeys swinging

Snow-laden mountains

and lush trees

And especially in lakes when the water freeze

Touching the water holding the snow

Give us butterflies in stomach when we bow

I feel, I smell, I see, I hear

To the bountiful nature dear

Kyba Nanuan, IX, MH, Shivalik Public School, Chandigarh
