Russian Tourist’s Death Panaji, May 10 The police said the deceased was in the company of this man a few days before her death. The investigators were on the lookout for an Indian man, named ‘Winnie’ who was friendly with the deceased and had spent time with her, sub-divisional police officer Sammy Tavares said. “Elena Sukhova was reported missing by the management of the hotel, where she was staying. But she resurfaced sometimes after the complaint and in her statement to the police she said that she was travelling with Winnie,” Tavares said. The Russian tourist was found dead on the railway tracks at the Revora town, 15 km away from here, on Friday. The identification papers found on her body helped the police to track down the identity of the deceased. He said the attempts were on to locate Winnie who would throw more light on the mystery. Tavares said Elena had arrived in Goa only a few days ago and had checked into Sun City hotel in the tourist hub of Baga. — PTI |
