Case transferred to special cell

The police has transferred the investigation of the murder of the owner of Sham Fashion Mall, Amarjit Singh, to the special crime investigation cell (SCIC).
Sample tests negative for swine flu

The UT health authorities today heaved a sigh of relief after the samples of a 30-year-old pregnant woman, suspected to be suffering from swine flu, were found negative.

It was a field day for the miscreants at Panchkula who, in addition to looting a bank, took a bag from a car parked in the same market of Sector 20. The windowpane of another car, apparently in an attempt to steal the bags lying inside the car, was found smashed. Fortunately, the bags lying in the cars contained nothing except some documents.

tomorrow. According to officials sources, the election material, including EVMs, was brought back to the respective counting centres on the evening of May 13 after
the polling. The EVMs have been stored in the strong room under double-lock system at the four counting

petition, a Division Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court today

Abandoned briefcase triggers panic

The recovery of a briefcase, which was found abandoned in Sector 23, triggered panic in the area as the police equipped with bomb disposal and dog squads reached the scene.
Six shops gutted in Sector 22
Chandigarh, May 15
Six shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at Sector-22 Bajwara Market here in the wee hours of today.
According to fire department officials, they received information at about 5:40 am. Six fire tenders were pressed into service and the fire was brought under control after toiling hard for 17 minutes.
