Violence disrupts 18 trains New Delhi, May 25 With the protesters torching the engine of the Jammu-bound train early in the morning, the Northern Railway was forced to either cancel or curtail as many as 18 trains, which were passing through Punjab, by the evening. At least four trains were also held up in various parts of the state till late in the night. Reports emerging from the Northern Railway said the 1058 Amritsar-Dadar leaving Amritsar today had been cancelled between Amritsar-Ambala and originated instead from Ambala. This as the train going to Amritsar was short-terminated at Ambala. The 4037 Pathankot-Delhi Express departing from Amritsar tomorrow has been cancelled between Delhi and Amritsar and the 2926 Amritsar-Bandra Paschim Express originated from Panipat instead of Amritsar. Similarly, the 5708 Amritsar-Katihar Express will originate from Delhi. The railways were forced to cancel the 2476 Jammu Tawi-Hapa Superfast Express leaving Jammu Tawi and will remain cancelled between Jammu Tawi-Ludhiana. The 2471 Bandra-Jammu Tawi Swaraj Express, which left New Delhi today, was terminated at Ludhiana. Here is the list of trains which have been affected by the violence: The 2331 Howrah-Jammu Tawi Himgiri Express arriving Jammu Tawi today, short-terminated at Ludhiana and its return service, the 2332 leaving Jammu Tawi was cancelled. It will originate from Ludhiana tomorrow. The 4649 Jaya Nagar-Amritsar Saryu Yamuna arriving Amritsar today short-terminated at Delhi and will originate as 4650 from Delhi. The 4650 leaving Amritsar stood cancelled between Amritsar-Delhi. The 2715 Nanded-Amritsar Sachkhand Express arriving Amritsar short-terminated at New Delhi and the 2716 for tomorrow will originate ex-New Delhi. 2716 leaving Amritsar tomorrow will remain cancelled between Amritsar and New Delhi. The 2919 Indore-Jammu Tawi Malwa Express short-terminated at Rajpura Jn. Its return service, the 2920 leaving Jammu Tawi was cancelled between Jammu Tawi and Ambala. The 3049 Howrah-Amrisar arriving Amritsar short-terminated at Doraha. Its return service, the 3050 Amritsar-Howrah will originate from Saharanpur. The 2029 New Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi Express short-terminated at Ambala City and its return service, the 2030 Shatabdi Express originated from Ambala City. The 2497 Nizamuddin-Amritsar Shan-e-Punjab Express, which left Nizamuddin, short-terminated at Ambala and the 2498 Shan-e-Punjab Express originated from Ambala. The 9224 Jammu Tawi-Ahmedabad Express leaving Jammu Tawi stood cancelled between Jammu Tawi and Ferozepur. The 4681 New Delhi-Jallandhar Intercity Express leaving New Delhi short-terminated at Ludhiana and the 4682 Intercity Express of tomorrow will originate from Ludhiana. The train will remain cancelled between Ludhiana and Jalandhar City. The 2459 New Delhi-Amritsar Intercity Express leaving New Delhi short-terminated at Ludhiana and the 2460 Intercity Express of tomorrow will originate from Ludhiana. The train will remain cancelled between Ludhiana and Amritsar. The 5209 Saharsa-Amritsar Jansewa Express short-terminated at Jagadhari. 5210 of tomorrow stood cancelled between Amritsar and Saharanpur The 2317 Sealdah-Amritsar Akal Takht Express arriving Amritsar short-terminated at Saharanpur. Its return service, the 2318 Akal Takht Express, will originate from Saharanpur and will remain cancelled between Amritsar and Saharanpur. The 4034 Udhampur-Delhi Jammu Mail stood cancelled for today and tomorrow. |
