DC seeks media’s
cooperation: DC Nandita Gupta sought cooperation and goodwill of the media for solving problems of people and also for spreading awakening among citizens regarding importance of their active and responsive behaviour to make things work for general welfare of society. She stated this while interacting with mediapersons here on Wednesday at a meeting in her office. She said the district is a district of oustees as thousands have been ousted due to the projects like Bhakra dam, ACC cement factory at Barmana, Kol dam at Harnoda and now JP cement plant at Bagha
Balag.
PWD meeting: Roads are the fastest mode of development of any area and PWD officers should complete all road construction work within the stipulated period while they should also seek cooperation of the people to give their land for this purpose willingly in the interest of their area. This call was given by Forests, Environment and Parliamentary Affairs Minister JP Nadda while presiding over the meeting of the PWD officers of the district for taking stock of all development and constriction works taken in hand by the department in the district here on Tuesday.

Proclaimed offender held: The police has arrested an absconding woman, accused of murdering her husband five years back, from Chambaliana village under the Sujanpur police station this morning.
Police sources said Preeto
Devi, accused of murdering her husband Jagat Ram of Dahalat, had allegedly murdered her husband on November 11, 2004, in Dahalat village under the Bhoranj police station and absconded from there and was declared a proclaimed offender (PO).
Liquor
seized: The Bhoranj police has seized 461 bottles of illicit country liquor from a jeep and arrested two persons.
The police said it intercepted a Scorpio (HP-28-4119) this morning, near
Bhoranj, and seized 461 bottles of Una No I, which were being illegally
transported. The police has arrested two persons Sunil Kumar and Banshi Lal of Sarkaghat in this connection.

Five injured: Five persons were injured, one of them critically, as the Maruti Van (HP-43A-4943) in which they were travelling rolled down the hill on the Kullu-Bhekhali road, about 6 km from here on Wednesday. Police sources said the driver lost control over the vehicle due to “over speed” and could not negotiate the sharp curve. The critically injured, Jai Ram of Kangti village was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh. The other four Ram Lal (driver), Arun (36), Devi Singh (29) and Manoj (20), all residents of Kangati village, were admitted to the regional hospital here. The vehicle was on way to Bhekhali from
Kullu. Jewellery stolen: Thieves broke into the house of Raj Kumar, a resident of the Khushinagar locality in the town in broad daylight on Wednesday and decamped with 60 gm of gold jewellery and Rs 10,000 in cash. They committed the theft when no one was present in the house. When Raj Kumar’s wife returned home she found the locks of the house broken. The police has lodged a case under Sections 380 and 454 of the
IPC.
