3 booked in dowry case: The Rawla police on Tuesday booked Roshan Lal, Jagdish and Surinder Odh under sections 302, 498A and 34 of the IPC in a dowry case. Mother of the deceased Chanderpati alleged that her daughter was killed as they failed to give dowry as per the expectation of the accused, sources said. Meanwhile, the Suratgarh police have registered a case against AK Mishra of 6 (1) brigade under section 279, 337, 304A of the IPC accusing him responsible of the death of a boy due to negligence in driving on Tuesday. In yet another case, one Inder Singh from Madhya Pradesh died due to drowning in a water tank in Gang Shehar area.

Seminar on child labour: The District Legal Authority organised a seminar on child labour at SSD Mangat Ram Mittal School here on Tuesday. The chief guest
was additional chief judicial magistrate Baljinder Singh. Information on free legal aid, environment protection, female foeticide and child labour was given at the seminar.

Crushed to death: Vendor Vajinder Kumar (16), resident at Amargarh village, was killed on the spot when he was hit by a truck near Mahalon village on Nawanshahr-Jalandhar main road here on Monday. Vijay Kumar (14), who was accompanying him on his bicycle, was injured and admitted to the local civil hospital.
Held with charas: The city police has nabbed Gurjit Singh of Railway Colony here at a police naka near Bhangal Kalan village and recovered 300 gram charas from his possession. A case under various sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at the city police station.

New Air Cdre takes over: Air Cdre N.K. Tandon took over as Air Officer Commanding of Air Force Station, Pathankot, on Monday from Air Commodore S.S. Soman. He was commissioned in the fighter stream on June 15, 1980. In a glorious tenure spanning 29 years, he had flown many types of aircraft and logged 4,300 hours of flying. He is a qualified instructor and graduate from Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.

One dead: Sukhdev Singh (38) of Kirrian village died while his wife and another woman relative were injured in a road accident near Harike village, 30 km from here, last late evening. According to sources, the trio was going to Tarn Taran side on a bullet motorcycle when it was hit by an over speeding Indica car. Sukhdev died on the spot while his wife Kashmir Kaur and other relative Gurcharan Kaur were injured.
