Contractors boycott tenders: The contractors working with the Panchayati Raj Department here on Thursday boycotted the tenders invited by the executive engineer of the Panchayati Raj for various development works. The contractors said they were forced to take the decision as the department was not ready to allot them work as per the prevailing market rates of construction material. Earlier on May 26 too, the contractors had refused to submit tenders for construction works. Union president Rattan Singh said the rates of construction material had increased by 25 per cent. The department was ready to pay Rs 2,400 per thousand for bricks where as the market price varies between Rs 3,500 to Rs 3,800. —

Results declared: Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) here has declared the results of annual examinations for undergraduate courses - BA/BSc/BCom (Part-II). Girls have yet again topped the university in all three streams. Controller of examinations, MDU, KC Dadhwal said Deepti Satija of KLP College, Rewari, topped the BA (II) examinations with 86.63 per cent marks and Poonam of GVM Girls College, Sonepat, got first position in BSc (II) with 87.5 per cent marks while Sonakshi Juneja of Govt College for Women, Rohtak, topped BCom (II) examinations with 80.42 per cent marks. He said the detailed results and the university merit list was available on MDU website www.mdurohtak.com. — OCMDU
exams: Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) here will conduct the annual examinations of BEd and MEd from June 29. The university has notified the examination schedule in this regard. University’s CoE KC Dadhwal said the annual examinations of BEd/MEd would be held from June 29 to July 12. The examinations for MEd will be from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm, while for BEd it will be from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. The date sheet is available on the university website www.mdurohtak.com. The varsity will conduct the entrance examination for LLB on June 21. —
