North continues to reel under heat

New Delhi, June 25
The northern region continued to reel under sweltering heat today as mercury remained above normal levels at many places with Ganganagar in Rajasthan being the hottest at 45°C.

Maximum temperature hovered above 40°C mark in several parts of Uttar Pradesh. Jhansi recorded the highest temperature of 44.7°C, seven notches above normal.

The state capital of Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 40.6°C, three degrees above the normal mark, while Bareilly sizzled at 41°C.

Allahabad, Gorakhpur and Varanasi in eastern UP, recorded the maximum temperature at 39.8, 38.8 and 40.4°C, respectively.

Rajasthan continued to experience blistering heat waves with Ganganagar recording a maximum of 45°C, followed by Churu (44.3°C), Met department said.

Bikaner, Jaipur and Kota recorded maximum of 43.2, 41.3 and 41°C, respectively, while Jodhpur, Ajmer and Jaisalmer recorded 40.5, 39.5 and 39.2°C. — PTI
