Five-year jail for Hawara’s ex-wife

Additional Sessions Judge, Fast Track Court, here Baljnder Siddhu today sentenced Balwinder Kaur (former wife of Jagtar Singh Hawara, Chief of the Babbar Khalsa International in India), Sukhdev Singh, Amarjit Singh and Pargat Singh to five years in a case registered against them by the Dhuri police on June 19, 2005. The court sentenced them to five years under Sections 4 and 5, Explosive Substances Act, and fined them Rs 500 each. They were also sentenced to two years under Section 411, IPC. Both sentences shall run concurrently. All four accused were present in the court at the time of the pronouncement of the judgement. The police on June 20, 2005, said on June 19, 2005, at Bhullarherri village (near Dhuri) it arrested Balwinder Kaur (wife of Jagtar Singh Hawara, chief of the BKI in India); Sukhdev Singh, a granthi of Dohla village (near Dhuri) who had reportedly got performed the marriage of Balwinder with
Hawara.
