Delhi High Court judges to
make assets public
New Delhi, January 12
Observing that democracy
expected openness, the Delhi High Court in a landmark verdict
today ruled that the office of the Chief Justice of India was a
public office and covered by the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
Also, the HC decided to place information pertaining to assets
of its judges on its official website.

Cold wave gets worse

Cold conditions worsened in parts
of north India where Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh reeled under
sub-zero temperatures today while icy winds swept across Punjab, Haryana
and Chandigarh, even as 290 people died of cold so far this season.
Antony: CRPF to control
J-K highways from Jan 15

With an improved situation on the
terror front in the state, the Army’s visibility would be far less
from January 15 onwards, as Defence Minister AK Antony today announced
that the CRPF would take control of the highways and the police would
have a greater role in urban areas.
Sohrabuddin killing: SC
orders CBI probe

The Supreme Court today ordered a
CBI probe into the killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh in an alleged fake
encounter with Gujarat police in November 2005. With an eye on fake
certificate and the rackets involving fake institutions, the government
is in the process of D-Matting academic degrees on the lines of share
certificates.

the electronic format, online. With an eye on fake certificate and the
