After SC rap, Cabinet meets to discuss black money
issue
New Delhi, January 20
Already battered by a series of scams and scandals, a worried government today turned its attention to the gathering storm over the flak it is facing from the Supreme Court over black money stashed away in Swiss banks. The weekly Cabinet meeting today took note of the matter when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh personally drew attention to it during a discussion on the agreement that India proposes to sign with Cayman Islands (a tax haven) for exchange of information relating to taxes.

today from a ported number, he gave the country’s over 700 million
mobile phone users the ultimate tool to make them kings of the market.
In a country that already has one of the
lowest mobile phone tariff rates in the world, the launch of Mobile
Number Portability (MNP) gave subscribers the option to switch
operators, without losing their mobile numbers, at a negligible fee of
Rs 19.

farmhouses in Delhi can go the commercial way

Windfall is on way for over 3,600
farmhouses in the Capital with the Urban Development Ministry and the
DDA all set to change the land use rules to allow commercial activity on
the land which is primarily meant for farming. While some of the farmhouses, already flouting the building byelaws, still run commercial activity like lending these for marriages or running hotels and motels, the proposed amendments to the Master Plan Delhi
(MPD) 2021 would give the farmhouse owners the opportunity to carry out commercial activity with impunity.

scam: M’rashtra Info chief suspended
Mumbai, January 20
A defiant Ramanand Tiwari, who
refused to resign as state Information Commissioner for his alleged role
in the Adarsh Housing scam, was today suspended with immediate effect by
Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan. “"The Governor has
suspended Tiwari with immediate effect, using powers under Section 17.2
of the RTI Act," a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said.
