Court responds to CBI plea

The CBI today pleaded in the
Supreme Court for the revival of conspiracy charges against BJP leaders
LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray and
others in the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case.

chargesheet against Justice Nirmal Yadav, 4 others
Chandigarh, March 4
Two-and-a-half years after the
cash-at-judge’s-door scam rocked the Punjab and Haryana High Court,
the CBI today filed a 25-page chargesheet against Justice Nirmal Yadav
and four others accused in the case. The chargesheet was filed on the
day when Justice Yadav was to demit office as a Judge of the Uttarakhand
High Court.

accepts CBI closure report
New Delhi, March 4
Giving a legal burial, a Delhi
court today allowed the CBI’s closure report seeking withdrawal of
prosecution against elusive Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi in
the two-decade-old Bofors payoffs case, saying the country cannot afford
to spend hard-earned money on his extradition, which has already cost Rs
250 crore.

New Delhi, March 4
The CBI today carried out searches
at the residence of suspended Prasar Bharti CEO BS Lalli after
registering a case against him and others for alleged irregularities in
the award of broadcasting rights of CWG reportedly resulting in a loss
of Rs 135 crore to the exchequer.
