Makkar: Will file case against Gikki's father

A year after the murder of hotelier Gurkirat Sekhon, alias Gikki, former Akali MLA from Adampur Sarabjit Singh Makkar today alleged that Gikki’s relatives were trying to mislead the court by making false statements. Makkar, whose nephew Ram Simran Singh Makkar, alias Prince, is the main accused in the murder case, alleged that Rajbir Singh Sekhon and Iqbal Singh Chatha, Gikki’s father and father-in-law, respectively, had been unnecessarily dragging his name in the case. 

Couple held with 500 gm heroin
Jalandhar, April 24
A couple of Rehrawan village in Shahkot was today arrested with 500 gm of heroin by the police. The couple, Kulwant Singh, alias Kanti, and his wife Sandeep Kaur were arrested by the rural police following a tip-off.

The CIA (Rural) today arrested a youth and seized a .30-bore revolver and three live cartridges from him. The police had erected a naka on the GT Road in Shahpur village, near here, and on suspicion stopped a youth for checking, which led to the recovery of the weapon and cartridges from him.

Makkar: Will file case against Gikki's father

A year after the murder of hotelier Gurkirat Sekhon, alias Gikki, former Akali MLA from Adampur Sarabjit Singh Makkar today alleged that Gikki’s relatives were trying to mislead the court by making false statements. Makkar, whose nephew Ram Simran Singh Makkar, alias Prince, is the main accused in the murder case, alleged that Rajbir Singh Sekhon and Iqbal Singh Chatha, Gikki’s father and father-in-law, respectively, had been unnecessarily dragging his name in the case. 

Makkar said he would file a criminal case against the two. He claimed to have made a complaint in writing to the DGP, Punjab, seeking action against a social networking site for offensive comments against him.

“I have requested the DGP to identify those who have posted objectionable comments on the Facebook by creating a ‘fake’ page,” Makkar said. — TNS

 Couple held with 500 gm heroin

Jalandhar, April 24
A couple of Rehrawan village in Shahkot was today arrested with 500 gm of heroin by the police.

The couple, Kulwant Singh, alias Kanti, and his wife Sandeep Kaur were arrested by the rural police following a tip-off. The police has also recovered a Swift car and Rs 1,500, which the couple had recently looted from Shahkot residents. The police said the couple had a criminal past as 16 criminal cases had already been registered against them at various police stations of the district.

The accused has been identified as Jashanpreet Singh, resident of Salaicha village in Shahkot.

During preliminary investigation, Jashanpreet confessed to purchasing the weapon from some Ramu Bhaiya for Rs 50,000. The police said Ramu had already been arrested by the police with two pistols recently.
