PM hopes new team will meet all challenges

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today described his new team as a combination of youth and experience. “The road ahead is full of challenges but I am hopeful that the new team will be able to meet them,” the Prime Minister told reporters after the swearing-in ceremony.

Asked about Rahul Gandhi, the PM said he would have been happy if Rahul had joined the government but he has other preoccupations and wants to strengthen the party. Rahul Gandhi refused to comment on his future plans while Congress president Sonia Gandhi only said changes in the party organisation would be undertaken soon.
