Hoshiarpur, November 11
Cricketer Harbhajan Singh today inaugurated his institute of cricket extending its peripherals here at GEMS Cambridge International School, Hoshiarpur (GCISH). Harbhajan said it was his long cherished dream to revolutionise the way young aspirants were trained to play cricket in smaller towns of the country.

The cricket star said the talent in smaller towns was immense and what they needed was training through expertise of skillful coaches and equipment of international stature. For Hoshiarpur, this was going to be realised within the GCISH campus.

GCISH managing committee president KK Vasal said a feather to the GCISH was added making it a historic moment to start at the grass-roots level. Principal IV Ahmed said GCISH was proud to provide a right platform to young cricket aspirants.

A bank employee was killed in an accident that took place in Barian Kalan village here. The victim, Kanta Rani, a resident of Gondapur village was posted at the Barian Kalan branch of PNB. She was going to the bank in the morning on her bicycle when the mishap took place.

A high-speed truck hit her a few blocks from the bank and she died on the spot . The truck driver fled from the spot. The police has registered a case against the truck driver. — OC
