Jasmine Singh
It is not only dengue ka keeda that you need to be safeguarding yourself from. Acting is another keeda which is in the air. Many Punjabi singer-actors in the industry would agree to it. Interestingly, this acting ka keeda has bit many in the industry. This time the Punjabi circle introduced you to some who have eventually faced the camera!
Navjit, the bad man
Navjit Buttar, a popular name in the Punjabi music industry, has directed over 100 Punjabi music videos. He has made virtually all leading Punjabi singers act for their music videos. Now, this video director makes an appearance in Kulbir Jhinjer’s single track, Kirpana which he has directed too. Navjit Buttar plays the villain in the track, in all those gold chains and gold teeth and playing piano! “It was a sudden decision, I thought why not try acting,” says Navjit, who is open to acting in films, “as long he gets a good role.”
Another short take
Punjabi cinema fans have started accepting and appreciating short films. Shukar Dattea is a short film releasing December 9. The film is presented by White Hill Production and directed by Janjot Singh. The film will be released on White Hill Youtube channel. The film stars Rana Ranbir and Jarnail Singh.
Hun nacho Khulke Dulke
Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh’s fan are eagerly waiting for the release of Befikre for the obvious reason (the film has 23 kissing scenes). Punjabi music fans, however, have a different reason all together. Their popular singer actor Gippy Grewal has sung a bhangra number for, Khulke Dulke in Befikre, which is already a hit. Gippy’s beyfikar style in the song has definitely struck a chord back home and in Bollywood as well.
Bunty’s fine cut
The Punjabi lyricist and music director makes his debut as a director for a short film, Moye Supne in Punjabi. Bunty has also written the story of the film. The short film releases this December, and is based on the life of a family that falls in the backward class category. “I could visualise it in a short film while I was writing the story of the film,” shares Bunty.
