Well, here’s the return of the jatt in yet another Punjabi film, which is (obviously) titled — What The Jatt!! And guess what? It is a situational comedy drama too! Never mind the Punjabi industry’s fixation with the jatt word. At the music launch of this Punjabi film, featuring Harish Verma, Isha Rikhi, Binnu Dhillon, BN Sharma and Vipul Roy, at Alpha Q recently, the makers seem quite confused.
While they tried to explain usage of the word jatt in the title, the confusion persists. BN Sharma attempts to explain the ‘what’ in the title as vatt, referring to the boundaries of the land (supposedly owned by a jatt). More confusion! “Well, the film is a situational comedy about a Punjabi boy (who, as you all know is a jatt) and of how he wants to become an actor,” says Harish
Verma, who plays the lead role in the film. Now, that the jatt part of the title stands understood, we move on to the what, which is essentially about the music launch of the show. In the meantime, the
producer, Sanyukta Ghosh, and director Saket S Behl, share that the film is made for a different kind of
audience. “Our target audience is very different,” shares the writer of the film, Sanjeev Vig, who skips to define his idea of ‘different’.
Meanwhile, the music director of the film shares that he has offered a mixed bag of different songs. “This is the first time that we have a retro number in a Punjabi movie and we all really like it. It’s called Lukka Chuppi,” says Rishi Singh, music director. “Also, we really like the title track of the film, which is called what a jatt can do, tussi nahi jaande,” she adds.
So, for all those who are still trying to figure out what the film is all about, you are advised to watch it, as the makers swear by the song, what a jatt can do… tussi nahi jaande!” But, only if you want to know...what a jatt can do!
