‘Beti Bachao’ fake forms being sold on payment in Tarsikka

Fake forms of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ are being sold on payment in the Tarsikka block. The accused are cheating people by claiming that the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development will credit Rs 2 lakh each into the accounts of those filling the forms.

For the past few days, the forms, each costing Rs 100, are being sold in various villages of Tarsikka block. People have been flocking to the post offices to dispatch the forms to the ministry through registered post. All registered mails are being sent to the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi.

The Joint Platform of Mass Organizations led by Jaramnjit Singh Bath today met the Child Development Project Officer, Dr Tanuja Goyal, and submitted the fake forms filed by the girls of Akalgarh Dhapain village.

Bath stated that some of the shopkeepers in the area were fleecing innocent villagers by selling them fake forms of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ scheme. Activists of the Joint Platform of Mass Organizations have been making the public aware about this fraudulent act by using public announcement systems at gurdwaras.

“We request the police authorities to keep a tab on such elements who are looting the public”.

Earlier, similar cases of fake forms had been reported in Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Tarn Taran areas. The police had booked some stationery shop owners for selling fake forms.

Meanwhile, the sarpanches of villages are also making the most of the situation, as panchayat elections are round the corner. Instead of making the public aware, they are stamping and attesting the forms to facilitate the residents. The Joint Platform of Mass Organizations found several fake forms which were undersigned by sarpanches.
