Completion of 100 days of the Capt Amarinder Singh government in Punjab has evoked mixed reactions in the city.

Residents of the city, even though disappointed with no substantial change at the ground level in the city, are still hopeful with the state government. The Congress government came back to power in the state after a gap of 10 years.

Talking about change at the administrative level, Prof SS Chinna, senior fellow, Indian Council for Social Sciences, said, “I have personally noticed slight change at the administrative level for good. Officials are more concerned now. I am hopeful the change will be for good.”

Stating that 100 days are nothing to judge a government, but that he was disappointed with the condition of the holy city, Naresh Johar, a senior citizen, said, “It rained today and I was crossing the Rani Ka Bagh area of the city. The road was waterlogged posing difficulty for me. At least, the government should have ensured that basic problems were solved in the first 100 days.”

Even though disappointed with the fact that there had been no sustainable change, Samir Jain, secretary, Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal, still hopeful, said, “The situation is the same, but we are hopeful with the government. They are yet to bring effective policies for trade. A lot of promises were made and I am sure things will be done. Considering that projects such as the BRTS are already being reviewed, let’s wait and watch.”

However, placing no hope in the government, Sandeep, a sales executive, said, “I do not see any change and I don’t hope for it either.”
