100 delegates take part in two-day conference

AMRITSAR: The two-day national conference on wastage and losses in agricultural marketing concluded at Khalsa College here today.

The two-day national conference on wastage and losses in agricultural marketing concluded at Khalsa College here today. The event was organised by the department of agriculture in collaboration with the National Council of State Agricultural Marketing Boards (COSAMB), New Delhi.

More than 100 delegates from different states participated in the conference. The chief guest at the conference was Ajmer Singh Lakhowal, chairman, Punjab Marketing Board. In his address, he talked about the contribution of Punjab farmers to the central pool and advocated subsidies to them.

He sought favourable policies to be formulated to reduce waste and losses in agricultural marketing.

Earlier, head of the department Dr Randeep Kaur apprised the delegates of the objectives of the conference. Principal Dr Mehal Singh appreciated the efforts of organisers for organising such a vital dialogue on the significant issue.
