15 arrested for drug peddling, bootlegging

AMRITSAR: The city police have arrested as many as 15 persons, including four women, on charges of drug peddling and bootlegging.

The city police have arrested as many as 15 persons, including four women, on charges of drug peddling and bootlegging. Separate cases under the NDPS Act and Excise Act have been registered at respective police stations.

Kulwinder Singh alias Kinda of Pandori Varaich and Venus of New Azaad Nagar were held for possessing 180gm and 130 gm of narcotic powder while Manpreet Singh of Tehsilpura and Satnam Sing of Aman Avenue were arrested for possessing 100gm and 270gm of intoxicant powder respectively.

Similarly, Jagtar Singh, a resident of Gumtala Colony, was nabbed by the Civil Lines police for allegedly possessing 280gm narcotic powder. The Sadar police arrested Monu alias Mota and Joginder Kaur of Mustafabad locality with 1,000 and 1,200 intoxicant tablets respectively.

The Gake Hakima police arrested Didar Singh alias Dara of Patti Behniwal in Sultanwind village for possessing 250gm opium.

Meanwhile, the Division C police arrested Charan Kaur, her son Ravinder Singh and two daughters Harpreet Kaur and Paramjit Kaur, all residents of inside Gate Hakima and recovered 190 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession. Sukhdev Singh of Khujala village in Tarsikka block and Shamsher Singh of Tathogarh, Jhabal (Tarn Taran) were held with 20 and 50 bottles of illicit liquor, respectively. Similarly, Iqbal Singh of Mohan Avenue was arrested with 12 bottles of English wine.
