Amritsar, May 19

The rural police have booked two youths, including an armyman, for “stalking and harassing” women in separate incidents. They have been identified as Mandeep Singh, a jawan, of Chabba village, and Nitish Kumar of Chak Bala village.

In the first incident, the victim accused Mandeep of stalking and harassing her. She said the accused resorted to such activities whenever he returned on leave. “Last time he came on leave in April this year and forced me to talk to him on phone,” she alleged.

A case under Section 354-D of the IPC has been registered against him.

Similarly, a married woman has accused a youth, Nitish Kumar, of Chak Bala village of molesting her. She said that she was busy in her kitchen on May 8 when the accused turned up and resorted to indecency. When she raised the alarm, neighbours gathered, forcing him to flee. She alleged that the accused threatened her of dire consequences while fleeing.

Nitish has been booked under Section 354-A (sexual advances and explicit gestures) and Section 452 (criminal trespass) of the IPC.

The police said the accused would be arrested soon.
