Three incidents of clashes during Lohri celebrations have been reported to the police.

In once such case, some persons barged into a house and thrashed a family just because the former’s kite had been snapped. The Gate Hakima police have booked over 10 persons, including Dimple Singh, Balwinder Singh of Indira Colony, Akash, Sandeep, Sahil Gill, Sikander, Kashi, Chanda and Sama.

Jyoti, the complainant, stated to the police that her aunt and her two sons Anil and Anu had come to her house and were flying kites on the rooftop where the accused’s kite landed and snapped by Anu. In another incident, several youth clashed with a family and damanged the windowpanes of their car when they were asked not to play loud music and vulgar songs. Ginni Rampal said he along with his family and neighbourers were celebrating Lohri at his residence while the accused were creating a scene in the street. The accused fled after smashing the windowpanes.

The Sadar police have booked Shiv Kumar, alias Shiva, of Gokal Vihar and his three unidentified accomplices.

Similarly, the Sadar police booked Kunal Rampal of New Jawahar Nagar, Kunal Bajaj and 10 unknown persons for attacking Sunny Rawat of same area . Rawat stated to the police that he was celebrating the festival with his neighbours and the accused were flying kites and playing vulgar songs on DJ.
