3 held as family assaulted over minor mishap

AMRITSAR: The police have arrested three persons for assaulting a family and damaging a car after a minor accident.

The police have arrested three persons for assaulting a family and damaging a car after a minor accident. The incident occurred near Ravi Dass Mandi here. Complainant Ravinder Singh said he along with his family members was travelling in his car when it collided with an autorickshaw driven by Vicky, a resident of 88 Futa Road, Mustafabad.

Ravinder said that the driver of the rickshaw called his acquaintances who manhandled him. The accused also smashed the front and rear glasses of his car with baseball bats and wooden sticks. Ravinder said that he received minor injuries in the scuffle.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Prem Lal, the investigation officer at Vijay Nagar police post on Batala road, said Vicky, his father Sham Singh and their companion Fateh Singh had been arrested. The police have released Sham Singh on bail, he said. Apart from the three, the police have booked six unknown persons. Sections 341, 323, 427, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC have been slapped on them. The ASI said the rest of the assailants would be identified and arrested soon.
