The city police arrested three persons and seized three illegal weapons on Saturday.
Those arrested were identified as Akash Sandhu (22) and Danish Sandhu (20), both residents of Rambagh and Ranjit Singh, alias Rana, (40) of Guru Harkrishan Nagar in Mohni Park area.
ADCP JS Walia said the police had received a tip-off that Akash and Danish were possessing illegal weapons. During a raid, the police found them possessing a .32 bore revolver. Later, a 7.62 bore pistol was seized from Danish’s residence.
During interrogation, they revealed that they had sold another .32 revolver to Ranjit Singh of Mohni Park. Walia said he was nabbed from Lohgarh. He said there was no previous criminal record of the three suspects. Further investigation is on to know where did they purchase the weapon from and the reason behind purchase.
