4 booked for rape bid

A woman of Jhamka Khurd village has accused her brother-in-law (husband’s brother) of trying to rape her. Besides, she has also three others of her in-laws family, including her husband, of conniving in the crime.

Her husband Gurjuj Singh is in Italy for the past six years. Other accused have been identified as her brother-in-law Nishan Singh, Devinder Singh and Rajwinder Kaur.

According to the 28-year-old victim, her brother-in-law tried to rape her recently. When she resisted, he allegedly thrashed her. 

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Naresh Kumar, investigating officer, said her husband Gurjuj Singh went to Italy soon after marriage six years ago. According to the ASI, Nishan Singh wanted to establish physical relations with her. Nishan’s wife had left him due to some family issues. The police said the accused also threatened the complainant to kill her.
