The Beas police have booked five persons, including a lawyer, for allegedly threatening Baba Bakala Naib Tehsildar Gurbinder Singh for registration of a property on the basis of an unregistered will.

Those booked were identified as Kultar Singh, a resident of Ranjit Avenue; Lakhwinder Singh, a lawyer and resident of Taragarh; Balraj Singh of Saudelehal village and Soma of Supariwind village, along with unknown persons.

In his complaint to the police, the Naib Tehsildar said the accused met him in his office at around 4.30 pm and produced an unregistered will. They asked him to register a property on the basis of the will and also tried to bribe him. He said he refused to oblige them so the accused, enraged over this, started misbehaving and abusing him.

According to him, they also pushed him and tried to obstruct him from discharging his duty.

Investigating officer Gurnam Singh said raids were being conducted to nab the accused who were at large.

A case under Sections 353 (assault or use of criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty), 506 (criminal intimidation), 186 (obstructing public servant from discharging duty) and 34 of the IPC was registered. No one has been arrested so far as the accused are on the run, he added.
