Unknown persons robbed 250 quintals of wheat after kidnapping a truck driver when he was sleeping in his truck. The wheat was to be unloaded at the PUNSUP godown at Vallah. The accused tied his hands and covered his eyes with a piece of cloth before tying him up with a tree and decamping with the truck.

Though the police found the truck today, as many as 500 bags of wheat were stolen from the truck. The police have registered a case under Sections 395 (dacoity), 364-A (kidnapping), 34, IPC, and Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act in this regard. There is no breakthrough about the robbers till now.

Ranbir Singh, the truck driver, stated to the police that he parked his truck in the queue for unloading 500 bags of wheat at the PUNSUP godown, Vallah, and, thereafter, went to sleep in the truck. He said at around 1am, three persons with covered faces and armed with a pistol and sharp-edged weapons climbed into the truck and took the keys of the vehicle after tying his eyes and arms with a cloth. He said two of their accomplices were following them in a car. Thereafter, they pulled him down and bundled him in the car and drove the truck to a secluded place.

He said then they tied him with a tree and sped away in the car along with the truck. He said he somehow freed his tied hands. Later, he found himself at a canal near Bohar village. He said with the help of a passerby, he called up his commission agent, Sukhwinder Singh, and narrated the entire incident to him.

Jatinder Singh, investigating officer, and in charge, Vallah police chowki, said the police had recovered the truck, which was found abandoned at Fatehpur on Mehta Road. He said all wheat bags were stolen from the truck. Further investigations were under progress in the case.
