Amritsar, August 22

After getting nod from the national leadership, the local unit of the Aam Adami Party (AAP) has started preparation for the civic body poll scheduled to be held in December this year.

AAP leader Sanjay Singh today said the state and national leadership of the party would take a decision about the candidates in the civic body poll.

Earlier, the state AAP convener Bagwant Mann was scheduled to visit the city on August 25 but due to the verdict of the CBI court in Panchkula on the Dera chief on the same day, he cancelled his visit.

The district president of AAP said the programme would be rescheduled.

To boost the morale of the party cadre, party volunteers started holding meetings in the city.

Suresh Sharma, district president of AAP, said the party was all set to contest the Municipal Corporation poll in the city.

He exhorted the party volunteers to put in all energy to sort out the problems of people in their areas.

He said the Congress government came in power with false promises had completely failed on all fronts and people were fully disappointed.

Now, AAP was the only alternative for the people in Punjab, he added.

Sanjay Singh lashes out at Congress government

Sanjay Singh today lashed out at the Congress government and said it failed to crack the drug nexus and fulfil its poll promises.

The former Punjab in charge of AAP alleged that the state government was not able to govern properly. He was addressing the media after appearing in the local court in connection with a defamation case filed by former minister Bikram Singh Majithia.

He said the government had failed to nab the big fish in the drug trade. He accused the Congress government of being silent on the involvement of Bikram Majithia in the drug case.

He said, “It is a lapse on the part of the Capt Amarinder Singh government that it is not able to nab the main accused who are involved in the drug trade. The government is silent on Bikram Majithia. It clearly shows their stand on the issue. It is a chacha -bhatija government now.”

The AAP leader said the government was not serious about the welfare of the people as no poll promises had been fulfilled.

“The government should provide employment opportunities to the youth. The biggest failure of the government is their inefficiency to curb the drug problem in the past five months. The CM had promised to solve the drugs problem in a month after forming the government. It has been five months but nothing has changed.”

He said the state and national leadership will decide on the candidate for the Gurdaspur bypoll.
