Most candidates are relaxing after the end of the election process. Some, who worked till late night, did not come out of their homes and even switched off mobile phones.
Cabinet Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike, who is candidate from the Attari consistency, was not available till evening as he went to bed late in the night.
Meanwhile, a few candidates toured their constituencies to thank supporters. The Lok Sabha candidate of the Congress, Gurjit Singh Aujala, visited all the nine Assembly constituencies during the hectic campaign. Aujla was at home and spent time with his family today.
“I have woke up late and visited gurdwara. I attended the Bhog ceremony of the path kept for peaceful elections. I also spent time with my family. Several relatives and friends had come from America and Canada to take part in the campaign. Now, they are ready to go back. We are seeing off the guests,” said Aujala.
He has no plans to go abroad or on vacation.
“Earlier, I wanted to go abroad. Now, it will not be possible till the result is out. It also does not seem good as enthusiasts and party workers need support after election. I will stay here only,” he added.
Meanwhile, Om Parkash Soni, candidate from the Amritsar (Central) also met his supporters and thanked them for their support. He followed his routine and even visited his constituency.
“Although I am relaxing, following the same routine. I met people in my office. Then, I visited some areas of my constituency to thank people. The campaign days were too hectic. There was no time for family members. We sat together and enjoyed food today,” said Soni.
Apart from others D Durga Prasad, the Lok Sabha candidate from Karnataka, also met his links and supporters. He visited Golden Temple in the morning.
Parsad said, “Now, I am planning to establish a unit of my party in Amritsar. So, I am making links and interacting with people. I will return to Karnataka after the result.”
Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was the candidate for the Amritsar (East) Assembly constituency met Congress leaders at his home and discussed election-related issues. The Congress leaders, including Avtar Singh Truckanwala, Sukhjinder Raj Singh Lally Majithia and others met him at his residence.
