Airport authority asked to review parking fee

AMRITSAR: The Focal Point Industries Association (FPIA) has shot off a letter to Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport director Manoj Chansoria to review the high parking charges at the airport complex.

Amritsar, December 15

The Focal Point Industries Association (FPIA) has shot off a letter to Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport director Manoj Chansoria to review the high parking charges at the airport complex.

FPIA chairman Kamal Dalmia said it was a matter of regret that despite writing various letters on the same subject, neither any action was taken nor any intimation was given.

The airport authority has rented out the parking lots in the international airport complex to a private contractor and its employees charge fee after lapse of five minutes.

The authorities have granted free of cost drop-in and pick-up charges for five minute duration.

He furnished an out-pass (number 0065) dated December 14, which confirmed recovery of Rs 100 from the visiting passenger to drop relatives for a duration of six minutes.

He brought the attention to Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi and Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport where such fee is not charged from the public at all.

Hence, the FPIA requested has the director to intervene and stop recovery of these charges. — TNS
