Amritsar, March 11
In what turned out to be an unprecedented development, volunteers and senior leaders of Apna Punjab Party (APP) gathered at Lawrence Road to celebrate the change of guard in Punjab poll today. They rejoiced the loss of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The dismal performance of Arvind Kejriwal and company in Punjab elections was lauded during an interaction with commuters. APP activists congratulated Punjabi voters for rejecting false agenda of AAP.
Carrying posters that read Seata wandan ch kita bhrashtachar, aise karke hoyi haar (corruption in ticket distribution led to its defeat) and Punjabi kisse di dhuas nahi sehnde, Punjab vich Punjabi hi raj karange (Punjabis don’t get bullied, only Punjabi face will lead Punjab), volunteers peacefully carried out a march along the busy route. Citing reasons behind AAP’s dismal performance, Tarsem Saini, district president, Apna Punjab Party, said, “The poor performance is a result of Arvind Kejriwal and Durgesh Pathak’s high-handed attitude while ignoring deserving candidates to adjust turncoats and parachute candidates. They were completely rejected by the people. The lack of accountable faces didn’t leave any scope for a contest.”
The Chottepur faction also alleged that AAP’s failure to cash in on Sidhu factor and sidelining grassroots-level volunteers led to lot of in-party opposition, which reflected in poll results.
“The Delhi team ignored Punjab volunteers and fielded candidates, who didn’t have honest image. Turning blind to the party’s own ideology, AAP is now reaping what it had sown,” said Saini.
Senior APP leaders Captain Vijay Sharma, Iqbal Singh Bhagowalia, Ashwini Sharma, Sardara Singh and Kulwant Wadali were also present on the occasion.
