Congress Lok Sabha MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla today conducted an inspection at the Regional Passport Office here. He said that he had received complaints from people regarding unnecessary delay in the processing of passport applications at the office which prompted him to conduct a check to have a insight into the issue.

Aujla also held a meeting with Regional Passport Officer Krishan Kumar and also interacted with the applicants present at the office and addressed their grievances.

He said that it had been brought to his notice that certain elements at the office had been causing unnecessary delay and forcing people to come through touts and agents. He said people from six districts visit the office frequently to get their work done. He said that he would send a detailed report to Consular, Passport and Visa Division (CPV) of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for an investigation and providing solution.

He said the report by the CPV would itself expose the mafia activity and disciplinary action would be taken against troublemakers.
