Autistic kid gets certificate

The district health authorities have issued a certificate to an autistic child. Civil Surgeon Dr Narinder Kaur said, “It is for the first time that such a certificate has been issued after making a board to determine the condition of the child.”

Dr Kaur said mental health was an important part of the overall health of a person and this aspect should not be ignored. She stated that many times people don’t understand mental issues and they end up being exploited by tantriks and babas. She said mental health patients should be taken to trained psychologists and psychiatrists.

Meanwhile, a mental health programme was also launched on the occasion.

Under this programme, health officials will make arrangements to carry out awareness drives to make people aware about mental health and not to fall prey to tantriks.
