Bank official dies as car hits his motorcycle

AMRITSAR: Raj Kumar, a cashier of Bharati State Bank of India posted at Ajnala died in a road mishap near Ugar Aulakh village in Ajnala last evening.

Raj Kumar, a cashier of Bharati State Bank of India posted at Ajnala died in a road mishap near Ugar Aulakh village in Ajnala last evening. He was returning home on his motorcycle when a speeding car hit him.

He was immediately taken to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The Ajnala police have registered a case under Sections 304-A, 279 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code in this connection on the statement of Ankur Sharma, a resident of Guru Nanak Avenue in the Majitha Road area.

Sharma is manager of the same bank and he was travelling in his car. He stated to the police that Raj Kumar was travelling on his bike while he was driving in his car. He said he had stopped at a filling station for filling fuel. He said when he reached near Ugar Aulakh village, he found that Raj Kumar was lying on the road after a speeding Alto car (PB-02-BF-0206) coming from the wrong side hit him. He said he with the help of the passers-byes put him in the car and brought him to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Mukhtiar Singh, investigating officer, said a probe was on to identify the driver of the car and he would be arrested subsequently. He said the body of the deceased was handed over to the family after a post- mortem examination today.
