Tarn Taran, June 17
A manager of the Cooperative Bank’s Valtoha branch along with a secretary of a cooperative society has been booked for Rs 17.8 lakh fraud. Gurmukh Singh, secretary of Co-Operative Agriculture Service Society, is said to have connived with the banker to facilitate the fraud. Bhikhiwind DSP Sulakhan Singh said Jand villagers (customers) of the bank had filed a case in the Punjab and Haryana High Court accusing the accused of defrauding them. A case has been registered against them. They are said to be at large. — OC
