Whatever our age, gender or social status, when it comes to the matters of physical beauty, most of us tend to defy logic against the possibility of looking better. The so-called revolutions in the beauty industry, backed by popular faces across the world have encouraged many to get more adventurous with trips to the salon or parlour. Trending in the beauty market, the hot picks for the season are Vampire Facelifts, photo facials, DNA diets and corrective cosmetic surgeries.

Falling a prey to vampires, Vampire Facelift procedure, has the young and old in city taken with a promise of natural skin rejuvenation. The latest in aesthetic medicine, the Vampire Facelift is available and in demand, using a dab of one’s own blood to iron out the wrinkles, fine lines and some age of your face, non-surgically. Dr Poonam Saini, dermatologist and consultant at VLCC, says the procedure has picked up popularity since its introduction recently.

“It’s a breakthrough technique which uses the platelet rich plasma from the blood to rejuvenate and make your skin younger. It involves extracting about eight cc of blood from the body from which the platelets are isolated and Autologous Platelet Rich Plasma is prepared. This is then injected using multiple pricks into the superficial layers of the skin,” she explained.

Leaving the shock factor aside, the procedure helps in making skin fresh, young and supple. The precautions, of course, include no photo-exposure or sun exposure. Another popular concept is the DNA diet or the combining genomics and weight-loss programmes. The technique used in criminology and forensics has come out as an effective weight and fitness management technique with DNA mapping done to know the nutritional requirements of an individual.

Other popular techniques in the list include photo facials, quickly becoming popular among the celebrity circle. It requires photo rays like laser to increase absorption and rejuvenation process in skin.

Hydra facials, using powerful natural serums and organic beauty corrective procedures that span over two-three months too are popular with men and women.

Annie Preet, a beauty and wellness expert from the city, says that most beauty procedures now are targeting the inside out approach rather than quick fix superficial solutions.

“Our clients include young brides, professionals and even grandmothers, who want to look and feel better. While most of these procedures are effective in the long term given their natural process of healing and re-building cells, they have no side effects.”
