TARN TARAN: The Sarhali police led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Gursharanpreet Kaur recovered a huge quantity of Lahan from Shakari village, 30 km from here, on Monday evening.



Tarn Taran: The Sarhali police led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Gursharanpreet Kaur recovered a huge quantity of Lahan from Shakari village, 30 km from here, on Monday evening. A case under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act has been registered. The SI said 1,360 kg of lahan had been recovered from the village. OC

Father-son booked for bigamy 

Tarn Taran: A father-son duo of Naraingarh (Chhehtra) village was booked on the charge of bigamy. A case under Sections 498-A, 494 and 120-B of the IPC has been registered against the father-son duo. The accused have been identified as Jagdip Singh and his father Angrej Singh. Jagdip got married to Rajiwnder Kaur of Naurangabad village in 2006. Rajwinder accused her husband and in-laws of torturing her for dowry and left her husband’s house. Jagdip got married again last year without taking a divorce from Rajwinder. OC 

Man robbed of Rs 10,000

Amritsar: A man was robbed of Rs 10,000 here on Monday. Some unidentified miscreants looted Mahesh Kumar of Civil Lines area when he was going to deposit the money in bank. He told the police that he was going to deposit money in Kennedy Avenue's branch of Bank of Baroda at around 11 am. Mahesh added that as he was about to reach the bank, two unknown persons stopped him and snatched Rs 10,000 in cash from him. The complainant said the accused also took his cellphone and fled from the spot. ASI Satnam Singh said a case under Sections 379-B and 34 of the IPC had been registered. TNS
