The Border Security Force confiscated 2 kg of heroin worth Rs 10 crore in the international market from near the Chhanmulla border outpost in Ajnala, falling under the Amritsar sector here.
Mukul Goel, IG, BSF, in a press note issued today said that alert BSF jawans noticed suspicious movements of Pakistani smugglers near the Indo-Pak border, near Chhanmulla border outpost.
He said they observed that smugglers after reaching near the international border started throwing some packets over the fence. The troops challenged them to stop and later opened fire when they continued with their aggressive actions. However, they managed to escape to their side, taking advantage of darkness.
During the search operation in the morning, the BSF officials recovered two packets of heroin from the spot.
