Canadian MP Sukh Dhaliwal meets faculty of Govt Medical College

AMRITSAR: Member of Parliament from Canada Sukh Dhaliwal paid a visit to Government Medical College here today. He interacted with the faculty and enquired about the medical services being provided by the college.

Amritsar, February 20

Member of Parliament from Canada Sukh Dhaliwal paid a visit to Government Medical College here today. He interacted with the faculty and enquired about the medical services being provided by the college. 

While interacting with the faculty, Dhaliwal said many Indian doctors were working in his constituency in Canada. He said most of these doctors had studied at Government Medical College in Amritsar. 

Dhaliwal added that he always wanted to visit the college which had produced so many good doctors in the world. He lauded the efforts of the faculty to provide medical facilities to a large number of patients. 

Dr Ramesh Chander, head of the department of radio-diagnosis, said, “The Canadian MP was very impressed when he was informed that the patients undergoing complex diagnostic tests don’t wait for their turn.” Dr Ramesh said within the given resources, the college was helping patients get instant services. 

College principal Dr Tejbir Singh said the college had constituted two medical teams comprising senior doctors who would provide medical assistance to the delegation which is on a visit to the country with the Canadian Prime Minister. Dr Tejbir said it was a pride moment for them as the Canadian MP lauded the role of GMC, Amritsar. 

Senior faculty members Dr NC Kajal, Dr Partap Singh, Dr Arvinder Singh and Dr Paramjit Singh were also present on this occasion.

Asr Vikas Manch members apprise MP of demands

A delegation of the Amritsar Vikas Manch met Canadian MP Sukh Dhaliwal here today. Its members urged the MP to request his government to open the Canadian Deputy High Commission Office and an education center here. 

Kulwant Singh Ankhi, president, Amritsar Vikas Munch, said the delegation apprised the MP of local residents’ demand to open a Canadian education centre to guide the students who wish to study there. He added that in the absence of proper guidance, many students choose wrong courses.
